LA Smith, international percussionist, is teaching percussion workshops at festivals from Panama to Canada, USA to Baja Mexico. Sharing Passport rhythms and beats that are found in hundreds of songs of all genres. A hands-on class using a dozen sets of Bongos, that will be donated to the students after the workshop. LA wants the kids to learn it, love it and play it for a long time!
LA Smith’s interest in music started at age 7 with the accordion. By age 10 he was playing piano. By age 12 he found a love for Bongos, hand percussion and Congas. He played his first bongos in Greenwich Village NYC, at age 16 he was playing in New York Bars.
LA has played with many national headliners such as, Chubby Carrier, Michael Burks, Grady Champion, Lightnin’ Malcolm, Calexico, Randy Oxford band, Mike Zito, Tommy Castro, Sonny Mormon and Cedric Burnside.
Currently LA has been doing percussion workshops in US, Panama, Mexico and Canada. LA is also working on a percussion Blues CD.
