Bill Rhoades hosts his annual Harmonica Blowoff July 4 on the Front Porch Stage. Featured this year will be:
Mark DuFresnes - From Seattle Mark has won the Washington Blues Society award for Best Vocals and Best Harmonica many times over the years. He has fronted his own band and for a few years was the featured vocalist for Roomful Of Blues from Rhode Island. Very unique styles on the Harp and Vocals and is a first caliber songwriter.
Mike Moothart -- Mike has been a fixture on the Blues scene here in the Northwest for over 35 years. He started in Eugene, and later moved to Portland where he played with the Jim Mesi Band and Jimmy Lloyd Rea & the Switchmasters. Paul deLay once called him, "the Greatest Unknown Harmonica Player in the World.”
Kim Field - Kim played in Seattle for many years with The Left Hand Men. Not only a great harp player and vocalist, Kim is an excellent writer and journalist. His book on harmonica called "Harps, Harmonicas and Heavy Breathers" is a must have for any interested in harmonica. He currently fronts his own Country band.
Hank Shreve - Hank is a young man from Springfield. He has been called the future of Blues Harp. He is an accomplished harp player and vocalist and the last couple of years he has been part of some Tribute shows to the late Paul deLay. He is an in-demand performer!
Bill Rhoades - Bill has been playing Blues for over 40 years. Over that time he has played with Robert Cray, Albert Collins, Jimmy Rogers, Luther Tucker and many more. In 2015 Bill was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame. He has also won the Cascade Blues Assoc. "Muddy" award for Best Harmonica over seven times.
