Canada’s classic bluesman Harpdog Brown has a brand new album out. It’s called For Love & Money and it’s a little bit Chicago and a lotta New Orleans! Harpdog has grown a reputation as a real-deal classic electric bluesman. His new show, Harpdog Brown & the Uptown Blues Band, is a vintage Big Band Blues sound featuring horns and keys. They perform mostly originals yet they often include great songs of the masters from that era. Audiences are raving about this new show!
Harpdog (yep, it’s on his birth certificate) Brown rules the roost in Canada when it comes to blues harmonica; he’s won the top national award for harmonica player there twice since 2015. The inventive singer and harmonica master leads a six-piece band of musicians who have mastered the tones and feel of the old blues greats.
As CBC radio Blues Programmer Holger Petersen says, “Harpdog Brown is one of Canada’s most distinctive blues singers and harp masters. He keeps it traditional, adding his own flair, energy and humor to great material, presented with swinging phrasing and solid, deep playing!
