2009 Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival offers after-concert events

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 29, 2009) – Can’t get enough of the blues? The 2009 Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, presented by First Tech Credit Union, offers a variety of after-concert events for the late-night crowd. Late-night DME Blues Cruises are sold out. But tickets are still available for two Wildhorse Resort and Casino Super Jams at the Marriott. Or visit University Place Hotel or Hotel Fifty. The music goes until 1 a.m.


Marriott After-Hours Allstars and Wildhorse Resort and Casino Super Jams

Walk across the street from the festival site to the Marriott Hotel for After-hours Allstars and Wildhorse Resort and Casino Super Jams. Admission is $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

Thursday, July 2: Marriott Afterhours Allstars: Northwest Pianorama with David Vest, DK Stewart, Janice Scroggins and Steve Kerin.

Friday, July 3: Wildhorse Resort and Casino Super Jam, featuring the bluesy soul of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, and the soaring sacred steel of The Lee Boys and special guest Aubrey Ghent.

Saturday, July 4: Wildhorse Resort and Casino Super Jam, featuring a Battle of the’Bones with New Orleans’ deep-grooving Big Sam’s Funky Nation, led by former trombonist for the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Bonerama, the Crescent City’s acclaimed four-trombone frontline rock/funk squad.

Sunday, July 5: Marriott Afterhours Allstars: Post-Festival Invitational Jam with Magic Slim, Tim “Too Slim” Langford, and Terry Hanck with Dave Gonzalez, Mike Barfield and the Stone River Boys.
