The Waterfront Blues Festival has earned many honors and awards over the years.

We've listed a few here:

  • The  25th Waterfront Blues Festival, once again, received the Muddy Award for Best Northwest Blues Event at the Cascade Blues Association’s 2012 Muddy Awards ceremony, Nov. 1, 2012, at the Melody Ballroom.
  • Kevin Selfe & The Tornadoes Big Band received the Muddy Award for Best Performance for his performance at the 25th Waterfront Blues Festival.
  • Bob Ancheta, long-time Waterfront Blues Festival supporter who recently retired as host of the Sunday Night Blues Room on KINK fm, received the Muddy Award for Lifetime Achievement.
  • In addition, Oregon Food Bank was presented with a PRSA Spotlight Award for outstanding public relations work on the 25th anniversary Waterfront Blues Festival.
  • Oregon Food Bank’s Waterfront Blues Festival received a 2012 President’s Award from Travel Portland, May 10, 2012.  The award recognizes valuable contributions to Portland’s visitor industry.
  • In 2011, the festival was listed as one of the top ten festivals in the United States by Essential Travel Magazine in the UK.

  • The 2011 Cascade Blues Association's Muddy Awards named the festival the Northwest Blues Event of the year, and Buddy Guy's performance at the festival won performance of the year.

  • In 2009, the festival was named one of the best outdoor music festivals by Outside Magazine.

    Keeping the Blues Alive
  • Peter Dammann, festival talent coordinator earned the Blues Foundation's Keeping the Blues Alive Award for Blues Promoter of the Year in 2001. 

  • The festival is a winner of the Oregon Festival and Events Association's Ovation Award for Oregon's Best Festival, Civic Celebration or Community Event.
