2009 Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival
welcomes the Elks Convention to Portland
During your visit to Portland, you won't want to miss the the Safeway Waterfront Blues Festival, one of the largest, most successful music festivals in the nation, July 2 through 5, 2009. The festival's spectacular setting—a grassy natural amphitheater in downtown Portland on the banks of the Willamette River with the snow-covered peak of Mt. Hood visible in the distance—helps attract an audience of more than 100,000 each year to celebrate this uniquely American cultural expression, the blues. For four days, music fans enjoy more than 125 performances on six stages for just $10 and two cans of food per person, per day, all to benefit Oregon Food Bank's mission: To eliminate hunger and its root causes ... because no one should be hungry.
The festival is a past winner of the prestigious Keeping the Blues Alive Award – Blues Event of the Year from the Memphis-based Blues Foundation and the recipient of the International Festival and Event Association’s Ovation Award as “Oregon’s Best Festival, Civic Celebration or Community Event.”
This year's festival is still taking shape. Check back often for updates.
